SIGN was the recipient of one of three Community Merit Awards presented at the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce's Celebrate Success dinner on April 17. The award recognizes organizations and/or events which contribute to the overall quality of life and economy of the community.
The other recipients were Ice Fishing for Charity (Credence Construction Ltd) and SaskAbilities Yorkton Branch. The award, sponsored by SaskTel, was presented by MLA Greg Ottenbreit to SIGN Board Chair Sheila Hintz and Executive Director Andrew Sedley, photo above.
Our ELC kids learn about Africa
The SIGN Early Learning Centre was pleased to have parents and staff tell our kids about Africa during Black History Month.
Thanks to all who helped out!
In Yorkton, where there are no homeless encampments, it would be tempting to think that it's one problem we don’t have to deal with. But that would be a mistake.
Most of us may not see it every day, or at all, but homelessness happens in Yorkton just as it does in larger cities. The people who work with the homeless and deal with it on a daily basis are well aware of the issue, and have some very definite ideas about what could and should be done about it.
We talked to Angela Chernoff, the co-ordinator of Bruno’s Place on Dominion Avenue, an emergency shelter for adults; and Martha Gares the manager of SIGN Housing Support.
There are many very tangible and good reasons to work at SIGN, besides the fact you will be helping us work with and contribute to the well-being of community members who need some assistance.
Among them:
See our Careers page.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action are addressed to various levels of government.
SIGN is not a government, but it has implemented what it can as a social services organization. SIGN is also an active member of Reconciliation Yorkton and our Executive Director is a tri-chair of the committee.
The work of SIGN is possible through donations from community-minded businesses, residents, clubs and organizations, as well as fees for services received from various levels of government. Please consider supporting SIGN by making a donation. Your support is greatly appreciated.
