The Family Preservation program is a concentrated and time limited in home support service created to stabilize and strengthen the family unit and to keep families and children together, avoiding out of home placement if possible.
The Family Preservation workers meet and work with all family members to achieve the goals set out by the families and Child Protection Services.
All referrals must come from the Yorkton Ministry of Social Services office.
We believe in the integrity of the family; that children have the right to a safe and nurturing home, and that families are our partners and active in the service they receive.
The Intensive Integrated Respite Child Care Program is coordinated through the Family Preservation Program. This program holds two licensed daycare spots in Kamsack and two daycare spots in Yorkton.
To be eligible for this program, families must have children between 18 months and 6 years of age and must have an open protection file with the Ministry of Social Services.
A Family Preservation staff member recently received the following text from a 13-year old girl, with whose family she had been working. The girl must remain anonymous, but she and her family are more than willing to share this with others:
hey carol , i just wanted to say a few things. i'm very thankful that you worked with us. you helped us through a lot and cared for us when we needed it even if we still have a long way to go. i'm glad you are who you are , a very helping , loving , beautiful person, many more things that i could think and say about you. even though you've only worked with us for 7 or so months , i learnt quite a bit about you and i bet that your husband and children and granddaughter are such lucky and grateful people to have you in their lives. im happy and proud that you help families and give them support when they need it the most in their lives , even if some people don't appreciate it , i sure do and i know my family does. i wanted to say that i'm really going to miss you , even if i'm just apart of another random family that you just working with for you job , i'm really going to miss talking to you , laughing , smiling , and for sure the support that you gave me , and my family. you deserve recognition for what you do and try to do carol. i hope you keep up your passion and job with other families to help them like you helped us even if we still have a long way to go. thank you for the little gift that you gave me with BTS and those beautiful quotes and nice sentence, it made me feel happy and sad knowing that your not gonna help finish this "adventure" with us. but i'm glad that you tried and did the best that you could. i'll miss you and keep living your life! you have still a long ways to go and explore and make new memories! thank you for all you did carol , thank you ❤️
